Changing Your Password

You can change your password at any time for security reasons or if you suspect it may have been compromised.

How to Change Your Password

  1. Click your username in the sidebar
  2. Select Change Password (or access via your organisation's account portal)
  3. Enter your current password
  4. Enter your new password
  5. Confirm your new password
  6. Click Change Password

Password Requirements

Your new password must meet all of these requirements:

  • At least 8 characters long
  • Contains at least one uppercase letter (A-Z)
  • Contains at least one lowercase letter (a-z)
  • Contains at least one number (0-9)
  • Contains at least one symbol (!@#$%^&* etc.)

Tip: Use a passphrase - a sequence of words with numbers and symbols is both secure and memorable. Example: Purple!Mountain$2024

Password Best Practices

  • Don't reuse passwords - Use a unique password for PioneerChat
  • Don't share your password - Not even with IT support (they don't need it)
  • Use a password manager - Helps you maintain unique, strong passwords
  • Change if compromised - If you suspect any security issue, change immediately

Forgot Your Password?

If you've forgotten your password:

  1. Go to the PioneerChat login page
  2. Click Forgot Password
  3. Enter your username or email
  4. Check your email for a reset link
  5. Click the link and create a new password

Note: Password reset links expire after a short time for security. If yours has expired, request a new one.

Account Locked?

After multiple incorrect password attempts, your account may be temporarily locked. This is a security feature to prevent unauthorised access.

If locked out:

  • Wait 15-30 minutes for the automatic unlock
  • Use the "Forgot Password" feature to reset
  • Contact your IT administrator if issues persist
